At Barunga Homes, we believe in compassion with dignity, which is why so many South Australians trust us with their residential care. Our skilled staff are constantly seeking new, innovative ways of providing world class support that suits each individual.
All 83 rooms have an ensuite and outdoor views, and are designed to accommodate couples who wish to remain together. Couples are allocated two rooms, with the flexibility of one being a living space and one a bedroom.
With an engaging lifestyle, 24-hour nursing service, flexible dining options and family spaces, Barunga Homes boasts a home-like environment where family and friends are always welcome.
Fully accredited under the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, we pride ourselves on our unique household model of care which promotes independence and eliminates features which are generally associated with institutionalised and clinical care.

ROOM TYPES
Barunga Homes offers three room types – Standard, Premium and Deluxe. Each room is spacious and the staff in the Homes will do their very best to make you feel right at home in your new space.
Barunga Homes is divided into four Houses – Spencer House, Stanley House, Evelyn House and Dale/Eyre/Renni Houses. This gives House Members the opportunity to assist in the running of their house. The Homes has a chapel/function room, the Rendezvous Room (a formal dining area for a special occasion), a mini putt putt golf course, The Ritz (on-site hairdressing salon) and Gloria’s Coffee Shop (which is also open to visitors).
Standard Room
A single room, approximately 12-14 square metres with private ensuite* located in either Spencer and Stanley House. Each room has maximum capacity of one. If a couple requests, we will try to allocate two rooms next to each other.

- Neutrally coloured room furnishings and décor
- Some include a kitchenette with sink, storage and a provision for a small bar fridge

Premium Room
The Premium Room is approximately 19 to 25 square metres* in size with a private ensuite, located in Stanley House. Each room has maximum capacity of one, however if a couple would like to move in, two rooms would try to be allocated next to each other (if requested).

THE WILLOCHRA HOME

Our Home offers 34 fully serviced rooms with high and low level residential care, providing a comfortable, welcoming environment that reflects the charm of country living. Nestled in the Mid North of South Australia, The Willochra Home offers House Members a peaceful lifestyle surrounded by supportive staff and familiar community values.
With a strong focus on individual well-being, we promote meaningful relationships, encourage family involvement and support independence wherever possible. House Members enjoy 24-hour care, a variety of lifestyle and dining options, and shared spaces designed for connection and comfort.
Fully licensed by the Commonwealth Government and originally established in 1964 under the Anglican Diocese of Willochra, the Home has seen multiple expansions and upgrades to meet the growing needs of the community – while never losing its personal, homely feel.

ROOM TYPES
The Willochra Home offers comfortable and private single rooms, each with its own ensuite. House Members are encouraged to make their space feel like home by adding personal touches such as an armchair, quilt, TV and photographs. All rooms include built-in robes, a dressing table with drawers, and an electric bed with a bedside cupboard provided by the Home.
Each room also features reverse cycle air-conditioning, in-floor heating in the ensuite, free Wi-Fi and access to TV, pay TV and telephone connections. For safety and convenience, call bells are located at every bedside, in bathrooms and throughout the lounges.
House Members can enjoy a range of shared spaces including cosy sitting areas, communal lounges, covered verandahs and peaceful outdoor areas. These spaces offer flexibility for socialising, relaxing or spending time with visitors.

Thomas and Jones House – Room
A single room, approximately 14 square metres with private ensuite located in either Thomas or Jones House.

SPECIALISED DEMENTIA CARE
Barunga Village is an accredited provider of an international ground-breaking model of dementia care.
This model sees a total transformation in the way we care for people living with dementia, with a focus on their emotions, and replicating home-like environments and everyday activities they enjoyed earlier in life.
Our House Members live in a world of colour and gentleness – they eat when they want to, they sleep when they want to, and they love and are loved. The walls reflect colours of the rainbow, the tables are littered with flowers and books, and the music flows.
The standard daily grind no longer exists, instead, each day is filled with household chores and activities that were enjoyed before their life with dementia.
These precious moments are created by how it makes them feel, by the smell and taste, or by the sound and feeling it gives them, rather than the actual physical environment.
We find it invaluable to learn about our House Members life stories, so we can emulate that in their own reality.

My husband Alexander lived at Barunga Homes for seven years after suffering a stroke, where he then started having seizures.
He was then moved to Dale House with early onset dementia. When he lived there, I found Alexander to be a lot more relaxed, and the staff were always finding new and different ways to keep him engaged. I am very glad he was transferred to this House.

RESPITE
As specialists in aged care, we recognise the extraordinary demands on carers – the unsung heroes of our community. When you are exhausted or overwhelmed you can’t continue to give. At Barunga Village we have the respite services to give you a break. Overnight and day respite maintains your physical and emotional wellbeing and gives you back your resilience and energy.
To be eligible for day and overnight respite, there are certain eligibility requirements and the team at Barunga Village will assist you with this process.
